LizQuen hit the big screen with Just The Way You Are | Movie Review

After the success of their latest teleserye, "Forevermore" tandem LizQuen (Liza Soberano & Enrique Gil) made a hit on the big screen, having gross total income of 12M on its first day.

Just The Way You Are is Theodore Boborol's film adaptation of Kimberly Joy Villanueva's pop fiction Wattpad book The Bet.

Basically, the story line revolves from popular guy Drake Sison's (Enrique Gil) childish 'bet'  with his best friend Andrei (Yves Flores) to make transfer student Sophia Taylor (Liza Soberano) fall in love with him in 30 days.

The teen-y romance between Drake and Sophia was very predictable and sounds very cliche. Nothing new to expect. You know how it begins, you know how it ends. Not that I'm not a fan of happy endings, but the story doesn't sound so real.

Except for the fact that the roles are being portrayed by one of today's freshest teen sensation after KathNiel, makes the movie more promising.

Yes, LizQuen had a breakthrough acting and you will fall in love with how hot Enrique is or how charming Liza is, most especially if you're a fan. But if you're a film critic looking for a story substance then you might not enjoy this one.

As for me, so far I felt like I was in my teenage years. Plus points for LizQuen's undying on-screen chemistry which brings a little kilig factor. But the story line, nope. I've read a lot more fantasized love stories like this one on Wattpad and I'm not a fan.

Overall rating: 3.5/5
