How to be a #SelfieExpert?

We are in the selfie generation where it is considered as a beauty trend. It was even already studied as a disorder because people can't get enough of it. And admit it or not, you have taken at least 50 selfies the entire time you are using your mobile phone.

I can still remember the Tumblr days when a selfie is called GPOY or Gracious Photo of Yourself. It was even called "Self Portrait" before it was even called a "selfie".

I wonder who was the first person who posted the hashtag #selfie and trended. Hmm.
Our time has been focused on taking photos since we want to remember a moment. A picture speaks a thousand words, right?

I am one of those people who takes 100 selfies and deletes 99 of them. If I am not satisfied with the last one, I delete it too.

Let me tell you the truth. It's easy to take selfies but it's hard to choose which of those is the most appealing when we upload it on social media. So how do you become a selfie expert?

1. Find a good spot or background.
It is very important to choose an appropriate background. It adds the color to your photo. Make sure that the background is in contrast with the color of your outfit for it to blend nicely on the photo.

2. Take selfies with the presence of sunlight.
In photography, photos look best when the camera gets enough natural light. Artificial lights make photos a bit dim. Personally, I don't take photos when there's no sunlight. It just makes me frustrated because I don't get the colors that I want. Plus, it looks like I just took my photo using a VGA camera - blurred and not focused.

3. Know your best angle.
I am sure that there is a part of you where you look best. Whether you, facing the camera straight, or facing using the right or left side of your face. Remember, it's your face you want to flaunt. How do you want to look like on that photo? Which part of your face makes you extra beautiful?

4. Use photo filters.
But don't overdo. Sometimes, over-filtered photos make it look cheaper. Choose the best that doesn't make the photo look over exposed or over edited. As for me, I use Photoshop Express app on my phone. I don't usually use photo filters. I just adjust the brightness and contrast. You can use other apps such as VSCO cam, B12W, etc.

5. Invest on a good camera for your selfie.
Of course! How can you take a photo without a good camera? Mobile phones these days have built-in front cameras with high resolution. If you are the type who takes selfies 7 days a week, one of the specs that you should look for is the camera specs. OPPO recently launched the F1 Selfie Expert which flaunts a whooping 8MP front camera and 13MP rear. Wow! You can seriously see your pores with that camera specs! The OPPO F1 Selfie Expert lets your selfie be clearer. Isn't that nice? It has almost the same feature with the iPhone 6! This one is a great deal.

Additional: When taking selfies, I use a monopod or selfie stick so that my face is not too close on the camera. I adjust the length of the monopod, enough to show at least my arms. This way, I also look like I had a photoshoot when it's just me who took my own photo. :)

Any other suggestions on how to take good selfies?
