Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway - First Impressions + Review

Althea has, again, released a skincare product from their own range - the Petal Velvet line. This time, it's sunscreen. After the release of the Bare Essentials Line to reduce the 10-step Korean skincare into 3, it is a good idea to add sunscreen on the range.

Althea's latest release Petal Velvet Sunaway (432php) remains in the minimalist design of the previous products. Here's what I think about it:

Main Ingredients:
Damask Rose - moisturize and smoothen the skin. It is rich in vitamins to penetrate deep into the skin and strengthening it for a radiant glow.

Claims:
  • Petal-like skin
  • Controls sebum on the skin with micro powder system
  • Hydrates the skin
  • Applies evenly on the skin without leaving white cast
  • Suitable even for sensitive skin

Unlike how most sunscreens are packaged, the Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway comes in a square plastic bottle with a small opening to ensure that the product is dispensed with just the right amount. It is tightly enclosed so that the product won't leak.

What I think:
  • Consistency is runny to thick. Make sure you shake before use because it tends to be very watery if you don't.
  • I honestly don't like the scent. I'm not a fan of strong scented products. It triggers my allergic rhinitis every time I apply it on my skin :( I'd rather have it powder scent.
  • The product finish is sheer and it easily sinks in to the skin.
  • Little amount goes a long way.
  • It does cause white streaks during application but sinks in to the skin in a few seconds so you wouldn't have to worry about getting white (literally!)
  • The product doesn't make the skin dry even after application.
  • It is very lightweight with powerful UV protection.
If you're not a fan of scented products, you wouldn't like this at first. But the scent doesn't last long and wouldn't be an issue at all. It does what it claims because it helps soften and smoothen the skin as well.
