Pamper Time: My Ready-to-Smooch Pink Lips by The Eyebrowdery

Last week, I was one of the few bloggers who were invited for an intimate Bloggers Day at The Eyebrowdery Greenhills. My first thoughts before going there is that, everybody is getting their eyebrows done! I was actually invited during the first Bloggers Day but I wasn't able to join. Anyways, I was very excited because I'm frustrated styling my brows. But to my surprise, The Eyebrowdery offers services other than eyebrow sessions.

I was born with a pouty lips. Some people say that it's my asset. While some others say that I also have long-curled lashes, I agree that most of the time, people notice my lips. Having said that, I'm really frustrated how to make it more natural wherein I don't have to use too much lipstick or lip stain to look nice. I hate my pale bare lips. I look like a zombie or a sick dying person without lipstick on. My friends always tend to ask if I'm feeling okay whenever my lip make up fades! Haha. So yeah, I took the risk to have this Make-out-proof Lip Job Embroidery session.

At first, I am worried that it's painful because there are needles and anesthesia. Wait, are they going to stitch my lips? I almost wanted to back out, but when I saw the finished product from one of The Eyebrowdery's staffs, Rose, I can say that the service is worth it.

The Eyebrowdery was established to offer the most innovative way of putting permanent make up, and was launched in March 1, 2015. The Eyebrowdery CEO, Miss Klarisse Tabao have a very keen sense in beauty and fashion and her main goal for The Eyebrowdery is to become the leading and most innovative 3D technology make-up specialist in the country.

This make-up trend is called embroidery. It was first known in some fashion forward countries like Singapore, Korean, Hong Kong, and Japan. Because of her natural skills in beautifying, Miss Klarisse was given a Diploma in Permanent Make-Up Embroidery from the famous international school of Dolly Tan, Aesthetics International Academy, and she is now bringing this beauty and fashion trend in the Philippines.

The Eyebrowdery offers exceptional services on natural-looking permanent make-up such as eyebrow tinting, waxing, threading, shaving, plucking, manicure, pedicure, eyelash extensions, lip embroider, etc.

There are three main services that was demonstrated for us, bloggers, during the Bloggers Day: Eyebrowdery (Kim of awkwardkim.com), Eyeliner Tinting (Tinsley of alapaap88.wordpress.com), and Lipstick Embroidery (Shy of www.shyieesolove.com)

What is Make-out-proof Lip Job?
Make-out-proof lip job or lipstick embroidery makes your lips naturally beautiful without the need of putting lipsticks all the time.

How it is done:
  1. Lips are sanitized and moisturized before the process. Lip make ups are removed to ensure that the area is clean.
  2. When lips are already sanitized, it's time for the anesthesia. Anesthesia is needed so that the patient will not be able to feel the pain of the needle.
  3. Cling wraps and cotton sheets are put on the lips to cover. After 30-45 minutes, when the anesthesia is all set, it's time to begin the procedure.
  4. The client get to choose her desired shade of lipstick and it will be mixed accordingly by Miss Klarisse. She will also be the one to do the procedure.
  5. Procedure takes 1-2 hours.
  6. For those who have darker lips like mine, Miss Klarisse suggests that there is a need to tone down the dark shade so that when the main pigment is applied, the lips will achieve the desired color.
Mine is a combination of 4 different shades of pink, red, and nude to achieve a natural pink shade.

What to do before the procedure?
  • Make sure you have eaten and have good sleep. The procedure takes too long so you need to be in good condition.
  • Tell the staff if you have allergies so we can avoid injuries during the procedure.
  • Don't forget to take a "before" shot so you can compare the difference.
Here are progress photos from Day 1-Day 7 of my Make-out-proof Lip Job session:

Before and After the procedure.

From upper L-R: Day 1-Day 6

DAY 1: Swelling and Fuller Lips. I cannot open my mouth to eat and brush my teeth properly since the area shouldn't get wet. I can only open my mouth very little. I felt like I was mauled because my lips are so dark and looks like I had a lot of blood out. Haha.
DAY 2: Peeling and feeling numb. I can't feel my lips. I also cannot move it because it's chapping and the outer skin is peeling. I have to use a straw when drinking and gargling so that my lips don't get wet. My lips feel so tight.
DAY 3: Peeling, less swelling, almost back to normal lips, and itching. It's very itchy that you want to remove all the dead skin. But I controlled myself doing that.
DAY 4: Less peeling and light colored lips. I noticed that the dead skins start to peel of by itself. The original shape of my lips already came back and it turned into a very light color of pink.
DAY 5: Lips came back to original shape and pink color started to show. Although the color is not even when you loo closely, I am still satisfied for the fact that I'm saying goodbye to zombie lips starting now!
DAY 6: Hello Pink Lips! Although there are still little dead skins on my upper lip, I am so much amazed that some of my friends start to notice the change in color. I hope that the color will enhance anytime soon.

WEEK 2: My lips' color is still a bit uneven. There are darker parts and lighter parts. Peeling still continues but is very minimal.

WEEK 3: See that? Almost perfect color. I'm still waiting for the true color to appear by next week.

WEEK 4: Tadaaa! Pink-er lips here. Sometimes, when my lipstick fades, I don't need to put lipstick again. I don't look pale anymore. I feel proud of my new lips. Plus, it feels softer than before. No longer dry lips!!

UPDATE MONTH 4: I am pretty satisfied with the lip embroidery. Here's how my lips look like now as of November 25, 2015. No lipstick / lip balm on. I can now go out without anything on my lips, but sometimes I still put lipsticks on to change the color.

UPDATE AS OF APRIL 15, 2017. I still have the pink lips Eyebrowdery gave me!

I was given a Vitamin A + Vitamin D Ointment as the aftercare balm. This contains lanolin, white petrolatum, paraffin, and fragrance.

What to do after the procedures?

  1. Keep the area clean by washing with clean hands and a mild soap.
  2. Do not use a washcloth or sponge to remove soap. Simply splash with water.
  3. Do not use cleansing creams, acne cleansers, or astringent. Use a mild natural soap.
  4. Apply the aftercare balm with freshly washed hands or a q-tip. If the balm is too stiff to use, simply warm it up in a glass of water on your finger. Use the balm sparingly. Too little is better than too much. Blot of excess with a clean tissue.
  5. Never touch the procedure area without washing your hands immediately before.
  6. Do not scrub, rub, or pick the epithelial crust that forms. Allow it to flake off itself. The pigment is ready to be pulled off if you see that it is peeling off by itself.
  7. Do not use any make-up near the procedure area for at least three days.
  8. Always use sun block after the procedure area is healed to protect from sun fading.
What's normal?
  • Mild swelling, itching, light scabbing, light bruising, and dry tightness. Ice packs are nice relief for swelling and bruising. Aftercare balm is nice for scabbing and tightness.
  • Too dark and slightly uneven appearance. After 2-7 days, the darkness will fade and once swelling dissipates, unevenness usually disappears. If they are too dark or still a bit uneven for 4 weeks then we will make adjustments during the touch up appointment.
  • Color change or color loss. As the procedure area heals, the color will lighten and sometimes seem to disappear. This can all be addressed during the touch up appointment, and this is why the touch up is necessary.
  • Needing a touch up months or years after. A touch up may be needed 6 months to 2 years after, depending on your skin, medication, and sun exposure. Recommended touch up is 30 days after the first session and every 6 months to 2 years to keep the area looking fresh and beautiful.
** Failure to follow aftercare instructions may result to infections, pigment loss, and discoloration.

Will I recommend the make-out-proof lip embroidery? YES. I recommend this session to those who have pale lips and wanted it to look natural pink or natural kissable red. Although this may cost you a lot of thousand (I think the lip embroidery costs 24k), I must say that the procedure is really worth it.

PS. I will re-update the blog after 30 days so that you can see how it looks like after a month.
